The Dos And Don'ts Of Ordering Food For Delivery Online

یاسمین قاسمی

These days, an increasing number of restaurants have begun to offer the option for customers to order their food online, making it more convenient than ever to order your food for takeout or delivery. If you're thinking about using an online service to order delivery to your home, however, there are some important guidelines you'll want to follow to ensure your satisfaction.

DON'T Assume a Credit Card is Accepted

When you order your food online, you may have the option to pay via credit card at the time of your purchase or pay once the driver arrives. If you choose to wait until the driver arrives and are planning on using a credit card, make sure you've confirmed that the driver is equipped to accept a credit card payment. In some cases, a delivery driver may only be able to accept cash, which could put you in an awkward situation once your food arrives.

DO Leave a Tip After Receiving Delivery

Some online delivery sites will give you the option to leave a tip when you finalize your purchase online (particularly if you're paying with a credit card). The idea is that this will save you the hassle of tipping your driver once he or she arrives. However, you should never feel obligated to leave a tip before your food arrives. After all, if your driver gets lost or your food is delivered cold, would you really want to tip the same amount as you would if your delivery was fast and fresh? Probably not.

DON'T Ignore Special Instructions

Many delivery sites will have a section where you can type in special requests or instructions for your delivery driver. Don't neglect these fields if they apply to you. For example, if you live in a gated community, make sure you provide your driver with the access code to your neighborhood. Doing so will help to ensure the quick delivery of your meal. Furthermore, if your street address could be easily confused (for example, you live on Clover Drive but there's also a Clover Court nearby), be sure to clarify this to avoid confusion for your delivery driver.

Today, it's easier than ever to order food delivery from the convenience of your computer, phone, or tablet. By keeping these tips in mind as you take advantage of this technology, you can ensure the most enjoyable experience and prompt, reliable food delivery.
